Thoughts about untested patterns
Edited by BoingBoing at 2023-6-16 18:45How do you feel about untested patterns? Are they worth knitting? I usually end up with the worst gauge ever and ugly finished product.
No way, no!
I will invest a long time and a lot of effort knitting/crocheting a piece, and I need the pattern to be reliable.
Life is too short to knit shitty patterns!
I always browse the finished projects in ravelry and read the users notes and the comments on the pattern page.
If people are complaining, I stay away unless I know the issues will not bother me.
Some designers are terrible, and will never fix known issues with their patterns. Others are awesome and do offer support either by email or by releasing an update that fixes the issues.
If it's something tiny, I'm willing to try. Or if it's something I'm so familiar with that I know how to modify it on the fly. But I can't be bothered trying 99% of untested patterns.
