That is what I think causes them to loosen up. My daughter has a newer snap and has not had that happen to her. But I also notice her clamps are different from mine. They are a thicker plastic so I think more resistant to stress. When Q-Snap was created it was done with the quilter in mind. I spoke to the inventer and a very nice man who said he came up with the idea to help his wife make her hand quilting easier. But it works very well for the stitcher too. A double plus for me as I love both!
