I started doing filet crochet after I ran out of stuffing. It's super easy and needs only 1 color. Any single color (1bit) pixel art can be converted into a filet crochet pattern.

There's are so many possible designs as long as you have ms paint/other paint program. Downside is, it will turn out bigger as it takes 3 double crochet stitches for a single pixel. The original picture is 32x32 px and my finished piece is 96x96 sts (counting one row of dc as 3 sts). So just making your design a little bigger can become tedious. Also, if you are planning to crochet without a border, you would need to decrease 2 stitches after you multiplied the size of the picture by 3. Naztazia's "How to Crochet Straight Edges with Popular Crochet Stitches" would also be a huge help.
