Hello and Welcome, I like to crochet baby items and I love amigurumis!  As for designer, there are so many - it is really hard to give advice, I purchased a pattern and could not get it to work for my hands, and then I saw someone else had accomplished it with no troubles!  Sorry.   Have a look around and see what strikes your personal interest!

Moreover I moved on to other items - doilies, blankets. Amigurumi I still crochet, but only if it's a very nice design. Most amigurumi look painfully the same, nothing that can catch my eye now

At first take the time to look around. After that you can decide what things you like to crochet, and later on you find a designer wich fits you the most.
I don't have a favourite designer, I make what I like to make at that moment and search for a good pattern.
