I use a phone app (just a regular counter one called Vivid Counter). I tried the manual ones and they mostly just got in my way haha.

you can also make a row counter out off stitch markers. make a little chain by putting them together. works best if not to long. i use one for decreses in sleeves and sometimes for cables

I use them as a stitch marker as well as a row counter, so that when I have to move it, I remember that I have to change it.

I use the clover one as well! But I usually forget to use it and just end up using a stitch marker and counting the rows

I like the clicky row counter but mainly find it useful for counting "plain" rows/rounds. If there are a set of repeats, I find it easier to use graph paper and mark off boxes.
