It is a free pattern you can search for on the internet. I personally knit socks on two circular needles as opposed to four or five DPNs but I think it's really a matter of choice. I learned to do socks on DPNs. There are many videos online that you can search - they will give you step by step instructions. I like short row heels but many prefer a sock with heel flap and gusset - again preference. Good Luck! As a long time sock knitter my suggestion would be Vanilla Sock with Gusset & Choice of Heel by Joe Torr. It is a free pattern you can search for on the internet.
