Do you use Q-snap for your projects? I'm using it now for the first time, and now I have to move the linen to keep on stitching, and I wonder if the embrodery can be damaged if it's hold by the clamps, they are really strong and hard to remove, I don't won't to spoil my project, how do you do it?
I rip a white paper towel into strips. I use two layers over my work. Also, I always remove the clamp when I'm done for the day. When my stitching isn't covered, the clamps stay on until I'm finished:)
I am hoping to get a Q Snap this weekend, I am starting my first very large project and I was wondering what size people get or if there is a way to get several of them in one pack? My finished piece is going to be at least 20" wide but I normally do my stitching at my desk so I am thinking of doing the 8" or 11" snap and just moving it - does this work well with larger pieces? I am not a quick stitcher, I don't work on it every night. Thanks for any advice :)
I know some people use fabric between the fabric they are stitching on and the camps to add a layer of protection. I stitch aida on an 8x8 Q-snap and have never had any problems with the embroidery being damaged from the clamps. However I do have to wash my pieces after because it will sort of flatten the stitches.
another great use with q-snap frames is the rubber claps for thread spools. place them on the edges (on top of your work) and helps to keep them snug. found a huge package on amazon for $20
As others have already said, try to put something between your fabric and the clamps. You may also want to twist them a little to un-stretch the fabric when you're done stitching for the day.
I love Q-snaps and use them for all of my stitching projects.
I put one side of Q-stap frame on books on the table, thus i can stitch with 2 hands and this spped up the work a little. :)
I use quilt batting between the snap and the fabric and that helps a lot! I won't put beads in a Qsnap though - I will typically just bead in hand at the end.
I have two Snap and I never have a problem with them, use a grim ward and if you like a layer of fabric between the aida and the clamps they are great you won't regret!
I'm not really use Q-Snaps but I have one bigger Frame for a floor stand that has such snap holders. And I've also never had any problems with my fabric although I often change the position of my fabric.
Like Drea, I've never had a problem with Q-Snaps crushing my work...but sometimes if I'm worried (because I'm using a finer fabric, etc.), I use small strips of plain white flannelette to help protect the areas directly underneath the clamps. It just makes me feel better. :)
