You're so right! It's all kinds of plastics/resin allergy. That is a kind that can't be cured. Most of us have it. But still too mild too be discovered yet. Hope this creative solution helps others!!

P.s The fit must be exactly thight. I found out that with the sewing on every looseness can be corrected easily. The first one is trying out a bit. The rest goes very fast then.
Good question: this would slip indeed on bare metal.
But in this case the plastic + the snug fitted sewing on makes it stay perfectly. Even when using the pliers with force. Didn't expect that outcome

Good luck! It was fun and easy to do and it stays in place too in my type of pliers.
Tip: Sew the seem by hand from bottom to top + on the inside of each handle.
