So my very first amigurumi was completed in September/October of last year, 2017. I quickly fell in love!
It was such a huge learning curve for me, I got stuck many times, I frogged many times, got cramped hands and sore eyes from sitting for too long to work it all out but I got there in the end! It took me 3-4 weeks to complete my Pajama Baby, and while little "Shy Shae" is not perfect, she is perfect to me and resides in my glass cabinet with my collectable bears. She is the first thing I ever made that wasn't just a blanket!!!
Since the "birth" of Shae I quickly fell totally head over heels in love with amigurumi and have made made 10 more different items in the mean time! I did always love the look of amigurumi, but never thought in one million years that I would be good enough to actually pull it off.
My Nana taught me how to crochet when I was just a little girl, but never taught me how to actually read a pattern so I spent the first 34yrs of my life just doing free hand items - mostly blankets, up until the middle of 2017. Now I am constantly pushing myself to try and learn something new, make something better than the last, bigger than the last, and everyone is being gifted crochet toys!
I don't know that I will ever gift her to anyone, there is just something special about the first one ;P Though my daughter has hinted not so subtly that she would like to have her LOL
