I made a needle book to keep all brand new or unused needles. For used ones, I use magnetic needle keeper.

I thread my needles through a scrap of Aida. That way the needles are easy to count so I know whenever one goes rogue.  I also leave a floss shade in a needle this way if it's used a lot in a design.
