I make this mistake every now and again (see photo) usually by the time I notice it I've gone several rows. It's your tension - you've slackened your tension at least 4 stitches before that stitch and at least 2 afterwards. An even tension does come with practice.............:lol Try doing what Sebnem suggests.... washing and blocking a garment does even out a lot of minor errors...........:)

Thanks LL :) My tension has gotten a lot better since I've learned to knit continental, so those 5 stitches really stick out like a sore thumb. Makes me crazy! P.S.Where you been hiding?  Post time 2015-12-11 06:39

Don't worry about it, as soon as you have right amount of stitches and rows. After you've blocked the garment most probably it will be gone. If it still bothers you, take a blunt needle gently pull the stitches near the biggest one. That way you can even the stitch tension.

If you are sure you didn't missed stitch when you dropped and re-picked them for fixing purpose, it is a tension problem.  As I see from the photo garter ridge count is correct so I believe you don't have missing stitch issue.

Just stick another needle in there and try to pick the stitch up (stretch it a ltitle), it's the tension.
