chain 6

Row 1. Double Crochet [dc] in the 4th, 5th and 6th chain from hook

dc.jpg

Skip first three chains, DC in 4th, 5th, & 6th chain from hook

dc1.jpg

This completes the first row.

Row 2: chain 6
Skip first three chains, DC in 4th, 5th, & 6th CH from hook (INCREASE MADE)

Flip up first square.

dc2.jpg

Skip three DCs of first square. SL ST around the CH 3 post of the 1st Square.

dc3.jpg

CH 3, 3 DC down same post:

dc4.jpg

Row 3:  chain 6

dc5.jpg

DC into 4th, 5th, & 6th CH from hook, turn work

dc6.jpg

Have you noticed how the chain 6 and then the double crochets in the 4th 5th and 6th chain from the hook creats the next row.

Skip next three DCs. SL ST around CH 3 post of next square.
**CH 3, 3 DC down same post. Skip next three DCs. SL ST around CH 3 post of next square:**

dc7.jpg

repeat ** to ** of above squares, across each row.

dc8.jpg

repeat Row 3 (Increase Row) until work is as wide as required

dc9.jpg

To continue working in *length* while maintaining the same width - you need to do a Decrease Row. This is because you are NOT increasing one square at the beginning of each row.

Decrease Row - CH 3, Sk next 3 DCs. SL ST around the CH 3 post of previous row's first square, Ch 3, 3 DC down post

dc10.jpg

Skip next three DCs. SL ST around CH 3 post of next square.
**CH 3, 3 DC down same post. Skip next three DCs. SL ST around CH 3 post of next square:**

dc11.jpg

Continue by ALTERNATING BETWEEN
*Increase Rows* (to make the rectangle taller, but now wider) and *Decrease Rows* (which will maintain the width) until you "close up" the afghan with the last square.

dc12.jpg

After Finishing last square - CH 3, turn, and SL ST around CH 3 post of previous row. This will even out the sides of the afghan

dc13.jpg

there are a number of videos to show you as well.

Red Heart has a very nice video with Mikey.
i hope you  enjoyed this and found it interesting.

I love c2c! It's a cleaner way to do pixel style art instead of 1 stitch=1 pixel. It is more time consuming though, with all the bobbins to carry the various colors.
