It is sewing after all. Try taking some thread and a needle and on a scrap piece do a few stitches and see if it's OK, if you need a larger seam.......try using a larger needle or two strands of thread. I would recommend two threads, just to make it sturdy, since it is to be used. My next project is a shoulder-bag of felt for my daughter.

I would think Bleu a regular needle would work perfectly.  It is sewing after all.  Try taking some thread and a needle and on a scrap piece do a few stitches and see if it's OK, if  you need a larger seam.......try using a larger needle or two strands of thread.  I would recommend two threads, just to make it sturdy, since it is to be used.
