Most of them only ask for you to put in your design size and aida count and it will calculate how much cloth you need. I don't know about cm as we still use inches here, but they say to always add at least 3-4 inches around each side. This leaves enough material for the piece to be framed and matted if desired. There are several material calculators on the web. Try a search. Most of them only ask for you to put in your design size and aida count and it will calculate how much cloth you need. Hope this helps. :)

I use a  3 inches about 7.5 cm extra around the pattern.  There are fabric calculators on line that figure it out for you if you put in stitches up and down and what fabric your using.  Just search for cross stitch fabric calculator
