The pinhead stitch is great. Especially for isolated stitches and confetti.  Never used it to end a stitch though.

I use this method for isolated confetti stitches.  I'm going to try using it to start stitching when I can't use the loop method.

I use the pin stitch for ending threads all the time. Once you repeat the motion a few times and learn the process, it is very easy.
