[Skill Help] What are your tips for stitching on dark fabric?

I'm working on a piece with navy blue aida.  I thought I could handle it easy, but a few stitches in, I realized it was alot harder than my normal 'white aida' projects.

Do you have any tips?  I've been going slowly and even moved a lamp to the floor so I could see the light through the holes in the fabric.

whenever i stitched in black fabric, I do it in daytime since it is hard to see holes at night even if you are using lamp.

I use one of those battery operated push lamps on my lap. Works great and they only cost about 1.00

I like the lamp trick; never thought of that. ^^; You could always powder the back of your piece with talc -- the powder that goes through the holes will outline them in white when viewed from the front. It's a dusty method, and you have to shake out all the talc when you're done, though. :L

I didn't used talc but I stitched with a white silk tissue (papel de seda branco) and after I pick it out or wash away. Works well on black fabric.  Post time 2012-10-20 10:24
