Knitting and embroidery
I am from Portugal and I live at Póvoa de Varzim, a fisherman's village that is known for having embroidered gainsays. Looking at old photos, I see a mixture of embroidered stitches. Do you ever heard about traditional embroidered knitted works? I've heard you can embroider over knitting but I've never tried it. Hello :)I looked up what you were talking about, I was really impressed with your local embroidery on knitwork. I've seen it around on instagram before, it looks lovely to trasform a garment or to hide a little pulled thread/hole. I'll probably be using it soon, I'd like to embroider small bees on my niece's sweater. Thanks for sharing and happy crafting :) I've heard that too and want to try it for socks!static/image/common/user_online.gif Everia static/image/common/clock.gif 2024-11-9 22:52

I don't know if it will bee the best approach, because of all the friction you have on that zone, but i guess if you do them above the heel you won't have such a problem. https://images.impresa.pt/expresso/2022-05-02-1-camisolas-poveiras-tio-piroqueiro.jpg.jpg-0f756d5d/original/mw-1920
Nowadays they only use cross stitch. But you can see other types of stitches.
I'm trying to reproduce the flowers on the vertical zig-zag but is really difficult to achieve something that resembles it...
