Question regarding the Loop Method for starting cross stitch

Hello folk, fairly new cross stitcher here and I wanted to ask a question about a technique that I'm having a hard time understanding :dizzy:

So, I stitch using two strands of floss usually, whenever I watch tutorials to try to do the loop method they all say to stitch using one strand of floss, is that because when you fold it over itself to thread the needle with it it becomes equivalent to two strands of floss?

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the technique, but I'm determined to learn it, any resources you have will be appreciated

Many thanks :victory:

You've got it right.

You take a longer piece of thread, and fold it. Then thread your needle, as you normally would, with the two "loose" ends.

Then take your needle from the back of the fabric, and put the needle through. Leave the looped end on the back of the fabric. Put the needle back through the fabric from the front. Secure through the loop you left on the back.
