I’ve done several HAED. When I first started I would always pick one item (ie elephant head) and stitch it out on spare fabric. If I’m happy with what I see I go for it but if I don’t, I haven’t wasted too much time. I’ve learned from my HAED projects that I’m a backstitch kinda gal. I like the definition that backstitching gives a piece. Until the computer designs put out good oustitching designs I’m afraid my BAP are at a standstill. Like every project .... one stitch at a time. It will be gorgeous when completed. You'll probably need to grid your fabric with a pattern that large and detailed, though.
