more rainbow doilies
as you liked the last rainbow doily pictures i postedi thought id show more that ive made
the ones that look like a rainbow gradient are crocheted with 3 or 4 strands of regular sewing machine thread held together...the colour changes are all done by hand by cutting one thread and adding in a new one every round or two...it is not colour change thread.
the multicoloured 'patchy' ones are crocheted with a tiny victorian silk hook and the thread is a single strand of had dyed sewing thread ...those ones are really fine and tiny.
and a work in progress shot
and here are the ones made with hand dyed sewing thread
thanks for looking :)

It's just a tequnique I made up myself one day when I ran out of crochet thread...I've since heard of a booklet or something of 'painted doilies' that are ment to be made similar but to be honest I haven't checked it out... All I do is crochet holding 3 or 4 strands of thread held together..(3 strands makes it similar to working with no20 crochet cotton) and at the end of every round...or every 2 rounds depending on how many colours I have...I cut one of the threads and swap it out for a new one
..so say... One round using.. Dark blue/mid green/light green...
Next round I'd cut dark blue and adda yellowso (md green/light green/yellow)
next round I'd cut the mid green and add say...an orange...(lt green/yellow/orange)
Round after I'd swap the light green for a dark orange...(yellow/orange/dark orange)
round after swap theyellow for a red...(orange/dark orange/red)
And so on..swapping the oldest colour for a new one ..with it being 3 threads held together .each individual thread has alife of 3 'rounds' giving it a nice gradient Ładne, dziękuję :) Bonitos trabajo !!!! Very nice and colorful doilies!!
