I think I may attempt this, it's so cute. I am a real newbie to crochet, @Weezie has been helping me learn, I'm almost through with my first baby afghan. But I'll probably have lots of questions.
First it says use a 2.0mm crochet hook. What size is this? I have some steel hooks, size 1 is 2.35mm, then it goes to size 7 1.50 mm. A size B shows 2.25mm. I'm already confused, I've looked thru Herrschners and can't find 2.0.
Could someone recommend a brand of yarn the right size that I might be able to find at Michaels or JoAnns?
Thanks

Hi girly! Great to have you with us! The materials all depends on the size you want to make. I suggest working up one of the hexagons maybe one each in different sized hooks...of your choice just to see the gauge compared to your personal tension and stitches. See what's most comfortable for you!
I have tons of worsted weight 4-ply yarn so that's what I plan on using. I'm going to work up a couple sample hexi's probably with my f and g hooks to determine what size I want.
The pattern calls for the 2mm hook which is a size A I believe. You could go to any store and find this size hook but you'll want to make sure you have the appropriate yarn to work with. Iwant mine to be larger though that's why I'm choosing to use the larger hooks. I hope this helps you out a bit :)

Just have the pattern download and scanned through. It is quite complicated as anticipated.I have never attempted any pattern of this difficulty level.Because of this CAL, I would give it a try.Wish me success then!

I have already started on this hippo and I have just the head remaining to do. He's adorable and well worth it. Im using the join as you go method, variegated sock yarn, with white.
