you can get pre-gridded aida... and even weave also comes gridded now but it's 20x20 blocks not 10x10 :O)look for magic guide aida and evenweave

A tip about grids.Instead of buying expensive gridding thread simply go to the store and buy a neon nylon or plastic type thread.It looks like fishing line.You could also buy fishing line and use.It saves a LOT of money.
Next the time to baste a grid is fast.You are basting.That means your stitches are large and running stitches vs normal sewing.Basting is extremely fast compared to normal stitching.The neons the nylons come in make it much easier to see and the thread moves quickly thru the fabric.Plus they come out easily.

I never draw grid on the fabric, coz I never wash my finished crafts....
Nor me. I never grid full stop - I just work small areas and never jump across huge gaps.

I recommend gridding with fishing line. Easy to pull out when finished, and you cannot pierce it.
